Past adoption practices

Ngala commends the Western Australian and Federal Governments for their formal apologies (2010 and 2013) to women and their families affected by past adoption practices. These practices took place across Australia from the 1940s to the 1980s through a number of institutions, including Ngala.

Ngala sincerely regrets the trauma caused to parents, families and children adversely affected by past adoption practices.

Our practices today

Since its inception more than 125 years ago, Ngala’s practices have continued to develop, reflecting changes in knowledge and communities’ needs.

Today, Ngala is a leading resource in WA for parents with babies and children. Our aim is to support parents and families around parenting and the development of children.
